  1. Having now presented my calm down/psych up video, and having watched the other videos that were presented on Friday, I was left with the feeling that my project fell outside the majority norm of what other students decided to do with their presentations. The greatest difference which I noted was that all the other videos which were presented included some sort of recorded audio incorporating the student’s voice into their presentation. This audio usually was in the form of voiceover which elaborated and expounded upon the video content that was being used.

This is different to my presentation, wherein I did not include any sort of voiceover, and instead communicated the content of my video through the use of subtitling. Aside from this difference however, I felt as though my video was thematically consistent with the rest of the group. In terms of the content which was approached throughout the videos, I noticed a trend wherein many students, myself included, were focused on techniques that help them feel better prepared, and better calmed for an interview in the time that they have before the interview itself begins. In this regard my video did line up with what everyone else had put together as well.

Broadly speaking I’m pleased with the results of my video project. I had never edited a video together like that before, and had no experience with video editing software, so it was a fun experiment getting to self-teach myself how to use a new program (DaVinci Resolve and Movavi, in this case).

  2. After having my video presented to my classmates, I found that my video was similar in the way that I gave tips and ideas for things to keep in mind going into an interview. It was definitely different from most of my classmates because I was the center of focus the whole video. I never thought to use images or video while giving a voiceover for my video, I liked certain styles of my classmates who did so. I think to improve my video I could used a mixture of visuals and captions rather than verbally speaking about each topic. Based off of the feedback of my classmates, I felt like I did a good job using different tonalities to calm down or psych up the viewers. While making my video, I focused on how I wanted certain types of people to digest the different tips and tricks I was providing. I wanted to boost energy of my viewers who need psyching up prior to an interview, to do this I used a high pitched excited tone. On the contrary, I used a much lower tone that came across softer to ease the nerves of the people seeking relaxation going into their interviews. I do think I could’ve adjusted my audio in the video slightly to amp up the volume of my voice during the moments that my voice was using a lower calm tone so that I would’ve been easier to hear. Overall, I was very satisfied with how my video was perceived by the class and I felt like I nailed the assignment based off of the rubric/prompt I decided to use.

  3. After presenting my psych up/calm down video this past Tuesday, as well as watching everyone else’s videos, I found a common theme. The main theme I discovered is motivation and preparedness when it comes to an interview. Mine seemed to be a little different than the ones I watched on Tuesday, since I did a voiceover, and the other videos were texts with music or a video showing their face. I also used PowerPoint to make my video which was another difference to the videos I have watched on Tuesday. Even though we all had different styles of videos, I would say they were somewhat similar when it came to the content we were sharing.

Also, I noticed another trend from the videos with making a video about what calms us down or hypes us up, and how we combat getting nervous for an interview. Everyone seemed to include how to prepare for an interview when it came to practicing with mock questions and how to dress. I will be honest; I was a little nervous about my video being presented because I was unsure about what everyone would think of it, but after presenting it, I feel a lot better about how it turned out. Overall, I really like the video I made, especially after I presented it as I stated before. This project also had me think of other ways I can help myself during interviews that can benefit me in the future.

  4. In relation to the collection of videos I have watched today I believe my videos fit well with them. The common theme of the class was preparation for an interview and creating a calming environment. My video aligns with those themes.
Some videos were focused solely on the person who created them, but with my video it is versatile to many even though I have specific anecdotes at the end. Even with my specific anecdotes they could fit many young students because they touch on universal experiences such as customer service and schooling. The videos with people’s faces included in them felt more personable. To me, these videos showed a sense of engagement with the class. While my video does not include my face in it, some videos have a similar approach to mine. They included calming graphics such as beaches and even calming music.
After watching my classmates’ videos there are some changes that I would make to my video to make it more engaging and possibly even more calming for me. I enjoyed the videos of my classmates that included a voice over of what they were trying to portray. If I were to have the chance to do the video again I would also consider using my own videos. If I were to use my own videos I feel as though the video would have been even more calming and professional.
Overall, while my video had unique elements, it aligned well with the themes and styles of my classmates. I feel as though I balanced my personability while still being relatable to the audience.

  5. After having my video viewed and showed to the entire class, as well as viewing everyone else’s videos, I do believe that my video fits the entire theme captured by everyone in the class. It appears that the common theme throughout the class was to focus on ideas for preparation while at the same time offering words of encouragement and confidence building. Everyone seemed to offer tips on how to prepare yourself for an interview, but I also noticed everyone input their own personal strategies and experiences into their tips, which made everyone’s video more personable. I do believe that my video fell well within the lines of these themes, although the delivery of everyone’s videos varied depending on the person.
While many people opted to include themselves into their video, whether it be film themselves or insert an audio soundbite of their voice, I opted to put together a video depicting many nature like backgrounds with accompanying textboxes. My usage of dialogue and word choices still made it appear as if I was the one speaking, so I did not go too far off from other people. I also wasn’t the only one who did something like this. I made the video personable while also leaving room for others to insert themselves into the scenarios I mentioned.
After watching everyone else’s videos, I feel even more proud of the video I made. I am even more impressed and proud of myself, considering I had never edited anything prior to this class before, and yet it visually looked incredible. It came together better than I could have ever imagined, and my messages were strong and clear. I am proud of what I just put together, and no one will ever take that feeling from me.

  6. For the most part, I think that my video fit in with everyone else. I went through a handful of techniques to prepare for an interview and added a few interactive elements as well, which most of the class did. I also positioned the video toward my future self, which, again, most other videos did as well. I tried to make my video unique by including some goofy/humorous moments, which many people did (mine was just designed to make the viewer laugh at me, whereas others intended that the viewer laugh with them). One thing I did not discuss was appropriate wardrobe like many other people did. Overall, although my delivery and style may have been a touch different than my peers, I believe that my video contained similar themes and messages to the ones my peers created.

  7. From the videos I saw my video was much less focused on overall helpful tips for an interview and instead was much more personal to what I find helpful for an interview. While I didn’t go over specific interview tips to go through during the interview or specific tips of how to prepare for the interview, I went over what is most calming for me. I can google and read as many articles as I want the night before but that usually only makes me feel worse before the interview. I had an idea of making the video much more personal to me from the beginning and I understand why some people may make it less personal and more towards a general audience. I do think my video still follows those themes of getting ready for an interview and doing things to make you feel in control. It just does so in a different way. I was also trying to add a little layer of comedy to my video to try and bring the tension down as well. I helped to write the one rubric that tried to focus more on the creative aspect rather than just sit and speak at the camera because I wanted to do something more interesting than that. Which I think I managed to do. I also really liked seeing the creative things everyone else did and what they think is so important to focus on during an interview.

  8. After presenting my video, as well as after watching other people’s videos, I was surprised at the amount of common themes present between my video and my peers’ videos. I found that a lot of people went the calm-down route, as did I, but even more specifically, many people included affirmations and imagery that were very similar to what I included. I liked that my video had so many similarities to my classmates, as it shows we are similar people and think in similar patterns.

I also enjoyed the creative choices that others made, and I think if I could go back and change something about my own video after watching my classmates’ work, I would add some more variety, including personal anecdotes and some reminders of popular interview questions that I will likely have to answer

  9. I think there was a common theme of calmness, positivity, and self-assurance throughout all these projects. For my video, I felt it fit well with the rest of the class. Going into that project, I knew I wanted to make it personal and have a high-energy tone throughout. There was a range of just images and words to actual people speaking in the project which I also found interesting. During the viewing process, part of me felt like everyone should have put themselves into the project. However, that’s what made this project great, the sense that we could all interpret it differently and tailor it to what made sense to us. Many projects took a ‘get ready with me’ approach that made it more personal, whether it was putting on makeup and reviewing appropriate outfit choices, or walking through the steps they take to prepare for a professional event. One thing that I would change about my project is including specific preparation like bringing an extra copy of your resume, notes on punctuality, and some of the more concrete things we learned about the interview process. My project was focused on self-regulation and I wish I dove deeper into the common theme of these smaller but key preparation details.

  10. I saw a common theme of calming yourself down and preparing for the interview in terms of what to wear, how to act, presenting yourself, etc. I was a bit nervous presenting mine originally because I hate the sound of my voice being recorded so I hated the whole thing. I also saw that mine was a bit longer than everyone else’s. My timeframe that I chose went up to 6 minutes which was still much longer than everyone else’s but mine exceeded that a little bit as well. After seeing other people’s though, I felt a little bit different with my approach because so many people actually presented themselves in their videos, which I didn’t want to do. I did however find a common theme to what people were doing and saying in the videos which I did as well. I felt a little bit better though after seeing some people’s videos because not everyone had an audio recording or themselves in it
